People and the Planet. Grades 6-10. As an interdisciplinary, environmental education and global studies guide in one, People and the Planet covers concepts and objectives central to science, social studies, math and family life education. Through hands-on (and minds-on!) activities and four readings, students explore the interconnections of human population growth, natural resource use, solid waste management, biodiversity, social justice, and community well-being. Standards-Based-Units. VEI has prepared seven Standards-Based-Units (SBU's) on population dynamics and human impact on the environment. Each SBU is tied to a Population Reference Bureau or Population Connection's curriculum. All are two to three week units linking these pre-existing curricula to Vermont's Standards. They do not stand alone; they rely on the curricula.
